What is behind ROI in social media marketing
Last week, we spoke in class about the ROI of the social media tools.
But what is behind those three letters?
ROI for "Return On Investment" = (gain from investment - cost of investment) / ( cost of investment)
First of all, whenever you use the social media tools to market your company it is not free. Indeed it costs time, salary of the workers, equipments (computers, desk, electricity,...) or opportunity costs (you can do another thing with that money, time,...).
Secondly, your gain from investment comes by the increasing number of your sales thanks the social media marketing tools.
You can measure it by correlating your sales with:
* The Click Through Rate (CTR)
* The number of followers (also called "eyeballs")
* The number of "like" on facebook
* The number of retweets on twitter
* The number of mentions (thanks to google alerts)
* Your rank in the Search Engine (like google)

Twitter chat
Last week we had class on twitter because it was halloween.
I found it really interesting because it is a new way to learn things.
An other good point is how fast it goes...
But the 140 caracters are really ennoying and you can not say precisely what you want to..

National Geographic
This week I would like to share some comments about National Geographic.
National Geographic was first know for its magazines with beautifull pictures (it was it's core business).
Then they become famous with video's and TV shows.
Their targets generally are old people and young men (using ipad). Who likes beautifull photo's and want to know the latest technologies, discoveries.
We saw that the best social media for National Geographic is facebook because you can post video's and photo's. But you have to attract people with some tweets or things like that.

On the way of the bluebird
Hi everyone,
This week we had to subscribe to Twitter and follow 5 people or organizations.
To be honest, I always have thought that I will never be present on Twitter, and, that my sister like other people just lose their time on that.
After one week on it, thanks to the course of my teacher and the reading of a book on it (the social media marketing bible); I can now imagine how to take part of this media...
First of all, to receive some piece of informations about my competitors, my suppliers,...
Secondly, even if I am not hooked by this site, a lot a people are fan and it could be my customers. So i have to work on it to advertise my product and to keep them loyal...
Actually, I chose 5 people/companies:
Apple:
My favorite technological company. I would like to work in a company like that. And it could be a rival because they are expanding so fast.
Dr. jenn Guignard:
She is teacher specialist in the social media.
Techcrunch
Guardian tech
Two technological web, to be up to date to the news.
Social media marketing
to see if there are new technique in marketing.
